The documentary and interdisciplinary theatre piece Kanal / канал takes the much-quoted notion of “Zeitenwende” (Scholz) – a “turning point in time” as its point of departure.

To what extent are people in Erlangen affected by this war? What connections exist? Which have been severed? What do those who have sought refuge in Erlangen say? Does this turning point manifest in our lives, does it trigger changes, and will those changes be lasting? And: Who is this “we,” or rather, with whom can we speak?

"Anastasija Bräuniger and Linus Lutz (...) demonstrate intellectual courage by avoiding clear-cut slogans and depict our nebulous present in a somber manner – yet without an apocalyptic undertone. Prolonged, hesitant applause confirmed how this topographical theatre essay unsettled and moved the audience in the best possible way." Donaukurier

"Through the interplay of images, dialogues, monologues, and a fantastic sound installation, an incredibly intense atmosphere is created – one that lingers long after. The intrusion of reality into the world of theatre – very clever."
Manfred Koch, Erlanger Nachrichten
